For too long, the solution to our housing problems has been to bulldoze our precious green space whilst derelict industrial sites remain untouched.
According to the Council, we have enough brownfield land across the Borough to build 4,000 homes. Except that this land is left unused, to blight our communities. And we've seen that this can be brought back into life; The former Severn Trent sewage works at Friar Park was brought by the West Midlands Combined Authority. Following decontamination work, this 32 football pitch site will become a 750-home community. And the demolition of the eye-sore Bull Street car park in the Town Centre will soon make way for affordable homes.
So, I was surprised to learn that our green spaces are still under threat.
