Hundreds of people attended Nicola's latest Jobs and Careers Fair, the most recent in a string of events that are part of her #StriveToSucceed campaign.
Over 300 people attended the event at Wesley Methodist Church in the town centre, where they had the opportunity to meet representatives from 20 local employers, training providers and employment support services. Exhibitors included The West Brom building society, Keltruck, Sandwell & West Birmingham NHS Trust, South Staffs Water, Embark Learning and many more.
Some employers in attendance handed out application forms that were completed there and then, whereas training providers like Embark Learning registered people to learn more about their Care Academy that has already helped over 2,500 people find work in the social care sector.
Organised in conjunction with the Department for Work and Pensions, the event was Nicola's third Jobs and Careers Fair in the town. Over 1,000 people have come through the doors at these events designed to help local people find work and explore future career opportunities.
Nicola has also held an online event for students to connect them with successful business people and a networking dinner for gifted students attending a local school.
Commenting, Nicola said: "I'm delighted with how successful today has been.
"We had well over 300 people attend to see what was on offer. I know lots of application forms have been submitted during the day, and exhibitors have been taking down people's details to let them know about future opportunities too.
"My Strive to Succeed campaign is all about providing opportunities for local people to connect with employers, find work, and raise their aspirations for their future. I hope everyone who attended had some useful conversations, and will be getting job offers in the near future too."
