Levelling Up opportunities for every child and young person in West Bromwich East is a large part of why I came into politics.
Today, the Education Secretary has announced the first local authority of children not in school. This will ensure children being home-educated are monitored closely to ensure their education is of the right quality.
This is something I have been pushing the Government to do through my role on the Education Select Committee – including during our session interviewing the Education Secretary last November.
The guidance for parents when a child drops out of school in Sandwell is extremely flimsy, so I’m very pleased a compulsory register is coming into play.
